Lovely old lion

"Lovely old lion" is a beautiful children’s picture book published by Andersen press Ltd in 2015 that deals with the sensitive topic of dementia. The authors Julia Jarman and Susan Varley tell a moving tale about Lenny and his grandpa who is the king Lion. Lenny starts to worry when his grandpa starts forgetting things and getting tired easily. When the hippo tells him that his granpa is getting old and bits of him are wearing out Lenny decides to come up with a plan to help him.

The illustrations drawn by the creator of "Badger’s parting gifts" are beautiful and perfect for the story, showing through the images the bond between grandson and grandfather in the world of animals.

The book is perfect to indroduce alzheimer’s to young kids in a very gentle way and it’s great to reccommend to parents for children dealing with grandparents with dementia.

"Now Lenny is king and he has a son of his own. King Lenny is kind and clever just like his granpa was. He sometimes forgets things now , but he never forgets his grandpa. he often reminds the young animals in his kingdom to be kind to their grandpas and granmas and to help them to remember."

Le autrici Julia Jarman e Susan Varley raccontano una favola commovente su Lenny e suo nonno, il re leone. Lenny inizia a preoccuparsi quando suo nonno inizia a dimenticarsi le cose e a stancarsi facilmente. Quando Hippo gli dice che suo nonno sta invecchiando e parti di lui si stanno logorando, Lenny decide di escogitare un piano per aiutarlo. Bellissime e impeccabili per la storia le illustrazioni realizzate dall’ideatore di "Badger’s part gifts", che mostrano attraverso le immagini il legame tra nipote e nonno nel mondo degli animali.

Il libro è perfetto per introdurre l'Alzheimer ai bambini piccoli in modo molto gentile ed è da consigliare ai genitori per i bambini che hanno a che fare con nonni affetti da demenza.
